An Architect by profession, Atik Rahman earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology, Dhaka and Master of Architecture from University of Houston. He is licensed Architect in the state of Illinois & Texas.

Growing up in a culturally endowed family, he was a student of Wahidul Haq and “Chayanot” in Dhaka in 1964. In the USA he studied music under several teachers. He debut acting in 1965 on Engineers Institute stage in Dhaka under the direction of Sirajul Majid Mamun. He is a prolific writer and an avid photographer. His writing and photography were published in many established magazines and news papers. Under his leadership, first Bangladesh Cultural Presentation was held in Dallas, Texas in 1974 at Southern Methodist University. Since then, he was instrumental in organizing many literary and cultural events in the USA. He is the past President of:

  • Bangladesh Students Association, University of Houston
  • Bangladesh Association of Chicagoland
  • Bangladesh Cultural Alliance of the Midwest
  • Board of Trustee, Bangladesh Cultural Alliance of the Midwest
  • Member, Secretary of State’s Asian American Coalition
  • Bangladesh representative, Bobby Rush’s Asian American Coalition
  • Vice President, Northfield Woods Home Owner’s Association
  • He also has volunteered, walked, ran to raise funds for Distressed Children International, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Aids Walk, Friendship Walk for Aga Khan Foundation, and many more. In 2004 his family was awarded as a Bangladeshi Model Family by Asian Chronicle USA TV.
